WOMAN REPORTS SON AND NEPHEW KIDNAPPED
A businesswoman has reported to police that her son and her nephew have been kidnapped and a ransom demand of $350,000 for their safe return.
Ria Lutchman said her 14 year old son Brandon Sam and his cousin Darrel Lutchman were kidnapped on Wedneday night.
Lutchman's brother was also abducted but was released this morning, she said.
The mother told the Express that the three were snatched on Wednesday night as they hunted for a manicou near their home at North Oropouche Road.
Lutchman said her son has been staying with his grandmother since July.
“My son, nephew and my brother went looking for a manicou on a tree near where my mother lives. It was only at 11 p.m. that the kidnappers called. But she didn't say anything to anyone; I think she was in a state of shock. Only this morning she contacted my sister and we called the police”, said Lutchman.
She said that her brother was released by the kidnappers in Sangre Chiquito this morning.
“The kidnappers again contacted the family at 10 a.m. on my brother's phone. The kidnappers said they will kill the boys If they do not get the money”, she said.
The mother said that her son is a pupil of SWRHA Hindu College in Sangre Grande and was expected to enter Form 2 in September.
She said her nephew, 16, lives nearby.
Officers of the Sangre Grande CID and Anti-Kidnapping Unit have responded and are investigating the claims, the Express was told.
